Cottage. C17 with late C18 & C20 extensions. Original cottage built
of colour-washed wichert with a later slate pitched roof having a
lateral brick chimney stack & weather-vane. Extensions of colour-
washed rendered brick with slate roofs. 2 storeys. 3 window range.
Single depth plan, single depth extensions added laterally; late C20
extension forming L-shape to rear. Original cottage to left with
recessed 2-light casements having glazing bars; panelled door to
right. On gable wall, a lean-to extension. Central, lower, C18
extension with similar casement to ground floor & 9-pane sash to
first. Right-hand C20 with similar casement to first floor & small
window to ground. Interiors; original cottage with chamfered & stopped
walnut spine-beam, elm lintels to windows & doors & walnut bressumer
over wide inglenook fireplace with bread oven & salt box to left &
remains to staircase to right. Wide projecting swept chimney breast
rises through first floor room with wide floor boards. C18 extension
has narrow stair to rear with closed string & stick balusters; 2 elm
doors with H-hinges to cupboards under stairs. On opposite rear wall
angle, an elm fitted corner cupboard with H-hinges. Projecting brick
chimney breast & red clay tiled floor.
