(See Also:LUDFORD MILL WEIR,LUDLOW CP)Mill.C17 with earlier origins.Stone rubble;timber-frame and brick;old plain tiles,re-roofed C19.L-shaped plan.Two floors and attic;wooden steps to first floor:C20 plank door under concrete lintel;to left,openings under oak lintels,and C19 leaded light in pegged oak frame;V-shaped cut-water,and grille, below.C18 brickwork to timber-framed gable,with two-light mullion.Wing to left has C20,two-light mullion leaded light,and to left,blocked doorway;left returned side has deep eaves with sawn purlins over massive earlier purlins.Rear has narrow pentice roof over tail-race,and blocked opening under timber lintel,with C20 mullion light over.Left returned side of main block has two hipped gable dormers with six-light mullion and transom windows with leaded lights and casements.Rear:C18 gable with leaded lights set in timber-framing with brick infill;corner buttress;tail-races under stone lintels;two-light mullion window in altered opening under brick segmental arch.Right returned side:stone steps to basement with C19 plank door and light,in altered opening under stop chamfered oak lintel and brick segmental arch;to left,two-light mullion;to right,steps up to C19 plank door under brick segmental arch.INTERIOR retains one early C19 wheel and shaft,with some sluice controls.Weir of medieval origins; V-shaped;serving Ludford and Hockey's Mills.Stone rubble,with vertical coursing.
