House and attached cottage. Late C18 with C20 modernisation. Dressed
sandstone with pantile roof and rebuilt brick stacks. 2-storey, 3-window
front, gable end on street. Left- and right-of-centre doors of 6 sunk panels
beneath gabled trellis porches. Windows throughout are 2-light, small-pane
horizontal-sliding sashes with painted stone sills. Painted wedge lintels,
to ground-floor windows. Coped gables and shaped kneelers. End and right-
of-centre stacks. Rear: single-storey, continuous outshut with catslide
roof. Interior of No 1, to left: ground-floor room to right contains a
partly-altered stone fireplace with a corbelled-out mantelshelf. Cupboard
door on butterfly hinges to right. Room to left contains a pair of plank
cupboard doors on butterfly hinges. Beaded joists throughout ground floor.
