TL53NW AUDLEY END ROAD, Audley End
669-1/3/332 Gateway at Icehouse Lodge
01/11/72
(Formerly Listed as:
AUDLEY END
Gateway at Icehouse Lodge)

GV II

Gateway through S boundary wall of Audley End Park (qv). Mid
C19. Red brick with stone dressings in Tudor style with 4
centred arched head and double shouldered buttress each side.
Stone coping lifts over gate arch in 2 steps. Plain 2-leaved
iron gates, one to W has subsidiary wicket gate. Brickwork at
rear of arch shoulders similar to rest of boundary wall,
suggesting that this gateway is a rebuild of one contemporary
with the early C17 wall.
