The Old House

GV II

Former mill and tannery, now house. Late C17/early C18 with
late C18/early C19 wing and later alterations. Coursed
limestone rubble; stone slate roof with hip to left, half-hip
facing on late C17/early C18 wing to right; stone and brick
ridge stack on wing to right, rendered stack on gablet on
right side, brick stack on gablet on rear elevation of late
C18/early C19 wing. 2 principal ranges forming L-plan, late
C17/early C18 to right with right side to Gloucester Street,
late C18/early C19 wing set back to left fronting down
Gloucester Street. 2-storey 3-window range with attic in range
to right. First floor has three 6/6-pane sashes in plain
reveals with stone cills; one similar 8/8-pane sash in attic
to right. 2 similar 6/6-pane sashes to ground floor; late
C18/early C19 six-panel door with reeded and shaped panels
with upper 4 panels glazed, C19 moulded stone hood over. Wing
to left has shallow plinth and quoins and left and right
angles. Right side has late C17/early C18 ovolo-moulded timber
mullion window with later alterations. INTERIOR not inspected.
