Ventilator to sewer system. c 1870. Portland ashlar. Octagonal
shaft on high base and pedestal, cavetto-mould string at c
2.5m from base, then tapered shaft to capping on ovolo mould,
with frieze and necking band. Eight cast-iron vents in shaft c
0.5m above string. Total height c 7.5m, side of octagon to
pedestal c 570mm. Located in garden of former Governor's
house, c 75m S of The Grove, one of three remaining shafts
(qqv).
