Warehouse. c1870, inscribed "Hayman's Pianoforte Warehouse".
Dressed granite and freestone to shop front, red brick and
stucco above; very steep rag slate hip to front of roof over
bracketed eaves cornice, otherwise not visible; cast-iron ogee
gutter. Deep irregular plan on front part of triangular site
between Church Street and High Street. Venetian Gothic style.
3 storeys; 3-bay front with round arches to lower floors. 2nd
floor has arcade of 6 shouldered arches and original transomed
lights over deep moulded sill cornice as shallow balcony with
projecting iron balustrade; 1st floor with moulded arches over
acanthus impost cornices; 6-pane 2-lights casement on left,
otherwise 2-pane casements, all with plain fanlights over
transomes enriched with balls. Ground floor has 2-light double
shop front with moulded arches with hoods and tall keyblocks
linked to stone fascia with moulded cornices and large end
stops; central doorway flanked by polished marble columns with
near Corinthian caps and granite end pilasters with similar
caps. Late C20 doors. INTERIOR not inspected.
