Pair of attached houses, one now college. Mid C19. Red rubble with limestone dressings, ashlar lateral and ridge stacks and a slate double-pile roof. Tudor Gothic Revival style. Symmetrical double-depth plan. Principal front to the rear garden, with grey rubble basement, quoins and a central buttress, paired gables and single storey gable-end porches. Inner ground-floor 3-light oriels have trefoil heads, corbel tables and crenellated parapets, 3-light windows above and to the sides with labels, paired attic and outer second-floor windows, with 2/2-pane sashes. Entrance porches attached to 2-story parapeted side blocks, with 4-centre arches, octagonal corner buttresses and crenellated parapets, to arched inner half-glazed panelled doors with flanking trefoil-headed windows; 2 end gables. The road front has paired gables with barge-boards and octagonal pendants, and a central buttress. Paired octagonal ashlar end gable stacks, and square ridge stacks, with cornices. INTERIOR: No.20, central stair hall divided by a 4-centred arch and label mould, to a dogleg stair with cast-iron balusters, moulded rail and octagonal newel, and moulded stone architraves to panelled doors. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: gate piers with decorative cornices, central pier and wrought-iron railings to No.20. A picturesque pair with Gothick styling to a late Georgian plan.
