GV II

6 terraced houses forming group that links Milner Square with
Gibson Square. 1841 by Roumieu and Gough. Grey and beige stock
bricks set in Flemish bond with stucco dressings and banded
stucco ground-floor; Welsh-slate gabled roof with stucco
party-wall stacks. Side-hall entrance plan with staircase.
Neoclassical style. Three storeys, basement and Nos. 1, 2, 5
and 6 with attic; 1 (tripartite) window each to upper floors
set within recessed central stucco bay and articulated by
stucco pilasters carrying simplified entablature. 1st floor
stucco storey band; full-length 3/3 sash with margin lights
flanked by narrower 3/3 sashes and with cast-iron railings to
stucco balcony supported by stucco brackets. 2nd floor of same
design but with shorter 2/2 sashes and iron window box
supports. Steps rise to entrance on right: doorway with plain
jambs carrying corniced-head, original 3-panelled door to nos.
2, 3 and 5, and fanlight with curved and radial glazing bars.
On left 2 ground-floor round-arched 2/2 sashes with margin
lights and with recessed stucco panel below. Stucco band,
cornice and parapet. Nos. 1, 2, 5 and 6 with dormer windows.
Attached cast iron railings with spike and foliated finials.
