GV II

House. Late C17, considerably altered in C19. Roughly coursed
rubble slate; Welsh slate roofs. 2-room, central cross passage
with rear stairs, and shippon (now converted) to right under
lower roof line; C19 front wing (raised to 2-storeys in
late-C19) to left forming L-shaped plan overall.
EXTERIOR: house a 3-window range with Yorkshire sashes to 1st
floor (2 and 4 lights), and with 3-light Yorkshire sash
windows flanking roughly central doorway to passage with
half-glazed and panelled door. Former shippon with gabled
dormer and window below (both with Yorkshire sashes) and
separate doorway. To the right of the junction of these two
sections of the house is a slit window of uncertain function.
Front wing obscures lower part of formerly front lateral
stack. 2-light sashes to inner elevation. End stack.
INTERIOR: some C19 joinery and some earlier wide floorboards
and wedge door. Narrow dairy to rear of left-hand room. Deep
fireplaces to right-hand room and wing, the former with
evidence of disused smoking chamber.
