Stables to west of courtyard to
Dolphin Public House

GV II

Stables. Late C17. Limestone rubble, some rendered, some
replaced with breeze-blocks; pantile roof.
INTERIOR: roof has thatch under pantiles, threaded purlins and
ridge in notch. A white-washed rubblestone wall divides the
block into 2, each half has heavy rough cross-beams supporting
upper floor which has wide elm floorboards. In the stable to
the left (south) are elm mangers and hayracks.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: cobblestones under tarmac yard; a spring
rising to centre-rear runs south-west under rear wing to a
standpipe of a pump (qv) still remaining.
