Small country house. Early C19, possibly incorporating rear
wing from C18 house. Roughcast render on rubble; dry slate
hipped roof with projecting eaves. Overall L-shaped
single-depth plan with parlour on the left, central probable
dining room and kitchen/living roon with lower floor level on
right; central rear stair hall; rear wing at right-angles
behind kitchen with service stair between plus coach house at
far right and late C19 conservatory at far left.
2 storeys (over basement on right); symmetrical 3-window
front. Original 16-pane hornless sashes over original 24-pane
hornless sashes; central large C20 bay window with glazing
bars fronting a widened opening. Conservatory is 5 bays with
4-lights per bay over a brick plinth; overlapping panes, the
roof glass curved to direct water clear of glazing bars. Coach
house has 2 hornless sashes with glazing bars. 3-window-range
rear has central round-arched stair window with fanlight head
over late C19 three-bay conservatory/porch with intersecting
round-arched glazing bars. Within the porch, on the right, is
an original doorcase with reeded architrave and corner blocks;
panelled doors.
Bay on right has original 12-pane sash to 1st floor, blind to
ground floor. 3 storey wing on left has early C19 18-pane
horizontal-sliding sash over tripartite window with 3:6:3
panes, and 6-pane window on left over 8-pane casement.
Right-hand return has 12-pane sash and blocked window opening.
Coach house has 2 sashes with glazing bars.
INTERIOR has early C19 partitions, floor structures and roof
structures; panelled doors including possibly 2-panel door
with later-glazed top panel with thin glazing bars; open well
staircase with open string, stick balusters and ramped
handrail scrolled over newel; possibly late C18 wooden
chimneypiece to upper attic room with old iron grate (partly
hidden at time of survey). Basement has deep floor joists of
reused ships' timbers with treenails.
