House, now garage. c1825, with c1930 alterations. Painted coursed squared stone and ashlar plinth, quoins and dressings. Glass, cast and wrought-iron canopy to garage. Roof of thin stone slates with stone ridge and chimneys. 2 storeys; 2-window range, with return to King Street of 3+2-window range. 6-panel door and overlight in doorcase of pilasters and entablature at right. Shop window at left with recessed right door. c1930 glass canopy on cast-iron columns has glass fascia with painted sign: 'GALGATE SERVICE STATION'. Plain stone surrounds to sashes with glazing bars on first floor. Eaves gutter cornice. Roof, hipped at left, has right end chimney and 3 transverse ridge chimneys on left return range to King Street. Left return has wide boarded vehicle doors in left part, the left sliding and the right with inset small door, and sashes with glazing bars in plain stone surrounds. INTERIOR: not inspected. Street name plate, late C18, attached to left return is ashlar panel with moulded frame to inscription: 'KING STREET' in good Roman lettering. Listed 22.02.73.
