Fish curing house. c1830, enlarged throughout C19 and C20 to
form an open courtyard. Whitewashed brick and flint with
pantile roofs. To the west is a narrow 2-storey gabled
smoke-house of c1830 with a 3-light ventilation window under
the eaves fitted with diamond mullions and internal shutter.
North of it is a mid C19 two-storey range running east, the
west end of which is a second smoke-house. Its north flank has
one 3-light ventilation window as before to the ground floor
and 2 similar ventilation windows to the second floor. Left of
these is an entrance taking the form of a stable door. Running
south from the east end is a 2-storey C20 range. Gabled roofs
to all ranges. INTERIOR. Both smoke-houses with a complete set
of racks, all still in use. The remainder of the interiors
have C20 wall tiling.
