TL 2256 ABBOTSLEY BLACKSMITH'S LANE

GV II

Mid-late C17 cottage originally of three bays, now two, with
later timber framed dairy and stable extension to east and mid
C19 brick smithy to west. Cottage timber framed and roughcast
rendered with thatched roof. One red brick end stack and later
ridge stack. One storey and attic. Two dormers. Two casements
with glazing bars on either side of doorway. Dairy and stable
weatherboarded with thatched roof. Of two bays with Queen Strut
roof trusses. Former smithy of local brick with pantiled roof.
Interior. Cottage with one large inglenook and one smaller C18
hearth, probably inserted when cottage sub-divided.
