3/179 Paradise Cottage

GV II

Cottage. Circa early to mid C19. Slate rubble. Grouted scantle slate roof with
gabled ends and red clay ridge tiles. Red brick gable end stacks, the right hand
stack rebuilt.
Plan: Single depth 2-room plan with a central entrance, each room heated from a
gable end stack. In mid to late C20 a single storey extension was built at the back
to the left and centre.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Symmetrical 3-window front. All the windows have slate cills
and wooden lintels. Centre first floor C19 16-pane 2-light casement flanked by two
C20 4-pane casements in the original openings. On the ground floor 2 larger C20 4-
pane sashes and a central doorway with a gabled porch with slate sides and a C20
glazed door.
Rear elevation has a C19 casement on the first floor and a roughcast C20 extension
with a flat roof.
Interior not inspected.
