Description

ST ISSEY TREGONNA
SW 97 SW
4/247 Tregonna House

II

Farmhouse, now private house. Circa C18 heavily remodelled in the early C19. Stone
rubble, partly slate hung. Cement washed scantle slate roof with hipped ends to
front range and asbestos slate roof to rear. End stacks with brick shafts.
Plan: Original plan uncertain. The straight joints indicate that the house prior to
the early C19 was probably of a totally different shape to the existing house. The
early C19 plan however, remains virtually intact with a front range of 2-room and
central passage plan, heated by end stacks with service rooms in 1-room plan wing to
rear right.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Symmetrical 3 window front with complete early C19 12-pane
hornless sashes. Central early C19 panelled door and doorcase flanked by 2 sashes
with dressed stone flat arches and 3 similar sashes above. The service range to rear
right has 4-centred arched openings to the windows.
Interior: Early C19 plaster cornice in left hand room with intertwined floral motifs
and C19 Delabole slate chimney-piece . Partition between right hand room and passage
removed. C19 joinery in kitchen to rear right.
