Yewtree Farm (formerly listed
19.10.51 as Yewtree house)

House. Late C15 or early C16 variant form of Wealden-house.
Hall floored c.1600. Late C17 attic dated 1697. Exposed timber
frame and plaster. Thatched hipped roof with red tile courses at
eaves and around gabled attic dormer. Late C17, red brick
chimneystack (built up later) towards S with mullions. 4 window
E elevation has continuous jetty of which end bays are original
jettied cross wings, having tension bracing to each floor. 3
late C17, 3-light, Ground floor, leaded casements. Attic over
door dated 1697 and window below has casements of same date. Cl9
oriels to 1st floor including canted, 2-light casement. N
elevation with tall, C19, external red brick stack. Roughcast
Ground floor with canted tiled oriel on E. Rear elevation has 2
thatched, single light, eyebrow dormers in slope of roof. Mid
C19, 1 window extension on S linking thatched and weatherboarded
range to house, part of which was an outdoor kitchen. Interior
of farmhouse has 2 bay hall. Late C17 oak staircase on N side.
Remains of diamond mullioned window in W wall of hall. (RCHM
