Farmbuildings including a threshing barn, linhay and storage buildings. C17 and
later. Mostly whitewashed rendered cob with corrugated iron, corrugated asbestos and
slate roofs.
The farmbuildings surround the narrow courtyard to the north of Townsend Farmhouse
(qv).
The west range is a Cl7 threshing barn with a corrugated iron roof hipped at ends and
a lean-to adjoining the west side. The barn is lofted and has a large entrance in
the courtyard side and a jointed cruck roof truss.
The south range, parallel to the farmhouse, consists of 2 blocks with a narrow
entrance-between them. The right-hand (west) building is a linhay with a corrugated
asbestos roof (formerly thatched), open fronted on the courtyard side with no
openings on the side facing the road. To the left of the entrance is a 2-storey
storage building with a corrugated iron roof and no openings on the side facing the
road. Adjoining this building at the east and projecting beyond the farmyard is a 2-
storey building with a slate roof gabled at ends. Stone steps against the front wall
facing the road, lead-up to a loft doorway to the right, 6-pane window ground floor
left.
The east range consists of a storage building between the farmhouse and the south
range.
The farmbuildings form a group with Townsend Farmhouse which is on the road at the
west end of Dunsford village.
