6/97 Dormer Cottage

G.V. II

Cottage, attached at right angles to ThreeWays at one corner. C15 core
with early C17 ceiling of a small open-hall. Lias stone walls. Thatch
roof hipped at left hand, gabled at right hand. One brick stack at ridge,
backing on to cross-passage. l½ storeys. 4 windows, 2-3 light wood case-
ments, with glazing bars. Wooden lintels. Half-dormers to upper floor
with thatch swept over. C17. 3 light leaded wooden casement with central
opening and 2 fixed. Opaque glass. Front door, left of centre, wooden with
flush panels, c C19. Square plank pitch door, upper right, originally to a
small loft. Interior: roof of jointed-cruck construction, originally with
collars. One truss visible, 2 in partition walls. 2½ bays of Open Hall
formerly. 2 sets of through-purlins. Ground floor ceiling has deep-chamfered
beams with filleted stops. C17,
