7/55 Grandford House

II


House. c1820 and mid C19. Gault brick, English bond with steeply pitched
roof of stone slates, partly repaired with Welsh slates. Gable ends tumbled
and parapetted. The rear pitch is now covered with asbestos. L-plan. Two
storeys and attic. Three dormers. Red brick arches to three, four-pane hung
sashes, recessed. Original doorway and pedimented doorcase with pilasters.
Six panelled door and fanlight with radial glazing bars. Two later canted
bays to either side. Contemporary forecourt walls, now rendered with ball
finials to piers. Inside original open-string staircase with square
balusters and curtail. Dairy and brewhouse in angle.
