House. Early C19 with later additions to rear and C20 alterations. Ironstone
ashlar. Hipped slate roof. Brick ridge and internal stacks. Central staircase
plan. 2 storeys. Original 5-window range extended cby 3-window range to left.
Stone porch has 6-panelled door. Entrance is flanked by pairs of sashes with
stepped stone voussoirs. 5 similar windows to left. First floor has 7 sash
windows with stepped stone voussoirs and windows over porch with stone architrave
surround. 5 pilasters through both storeys. Left 3-window part slightly
recessed. String course to first floor. Interior. C19 staricase with wreathed
handrail. Winder staircase to rear. C19 ceiling and decoration. C20
alterations and additions to interior including C20 plasterwork ceilings in C19
style and fireplaces. Perhaps built for John Hitchcock who lived here in 1852.
