Amwell at TL 364 131

GV II

Bridge. 1824. One of a series of prefabricated bridges over
the New River. Formed of cast-iron girders, with perforated
spandrels, ornamental keystones with date, with convex chordal
profile. Span approx 4.5m. Inscribed `New River Co.',
`Priestfield Iron Works near Bilston' (Staffordshire). This
bridge which forms part of the boundary of Ware Town carries a
flat concrete slab for the roadway. C20 handrail to pattern of
original.
