GV II

Two houses, now public house and hotel. No.21 possibly C17,
refaced C18, No.23 late C18-early C19. Stucco with tarred
plinth, brick gable stacks and interlocking tiled roof.
Double-depth plan to No.23, with lower range comprising No.21
to right of front.
2 storeys and attic; 3:4-window range. No.21 has a coped
parapet, plain left-hand doorway and C20 door, with 6/6-pane
sashes, spaced towards the sides, and 2 C20 gabled dormers.
No.23 has a central segmental-arched doorway with a shallow
pediment and 6-panel door, moulded cornices on carved brackets
over left-hand 2-light plate-glass sashes, and right-hand
3-light former shop window with cambered heads; gauged flat
brick arches to first-floor left-hand tripartite window,
6/6-pane sashes and a central round-arched blind window with
keyed architrave, and second-floor 3/6-pane sashes. Rear N
wing and central paired gables.
INTERIOR has altered ground-floor public house interior, upper
lateral stair flight with stick balusters and column newels.
