GV II

Walls, gate piers, railings and gates to municipal cemetery.
c1858. Snecked limestone walls with ashlar coping; ashlar
piers; wrought-iron gates and railings. Railings on chamfered
ashlar coping to walls along the street front of the cemetery,
with quadrant section flanking entrance defined by piers; tall
chamfered square piers to vehicle and pedestrian entrances
have stepped plinths and moulded cornices with high hipped
overlapping stone coping; blank shields set in panels on front
of piers. Railings have cusped diagonal bracing between and
trefoil leaves springing from uprights above bracing and as
finials on uprights. Vehicle and pedestrian gates in similar
style have low bracing and trefoil leaves to form dog bars.
