Terrace of six shops. c.1847. Probably by Walter Scott. Ashlar-faced, with Welsh slate roofs. Three storeys and attic. Eighteen-window range, arranged 4-5-7-2. The five-window range is stressed with angle quoins, and with higher attic storey with interlace frieze and modillion eaves cornice. End block to right forms curved angle with Chester Street, and has higher first floor windows with tripartite sashes with enriched stone tympana, modillion eaves cornice and higher attic storey.
Shop fronts to ground floor largely early C20, though shallow canted bay windows with doors each side in Nos. 3 and 5 may be earlier. Central segmentally-arched entrance through to rear. First floor windows all have entablatures carried on brackets, and second floor windows are in stressed architraves. All are twelve-pane sashes. Moulded cornice, then attic storey with six-pane sash windows.
Forms a continuous development with Nos 90-126 Chester Street (q.v.), part of the Market Cross development built by Scott as a shopping centre.
