SX9263 OLD TORWOOD ROAD 885-1/18/195 (North side) Gate piers and garden walls to Cambridge Lodge

GV II

Garden walls and gate piers. c1850s, contemporary with Cambrige Lodge. Local grey limestone rubble walls with irregular toothed capping; cement-rendered gate-piers. The wall encloses the garden south of the house and includes an archway with a brick arch from Old Torwood Road. On the east return a pair of octagonal gate piers with low, oversailing pyramidal caps. Cambrige Lodge is a rare example of a smaller Torquay villa complete with original garden. It is paired with Grey House (qv). Included for group value.
