Includes: No.16 ROYLE STREET Withington.
Cottage and workshop, now separate properties. Early to mid
C19, altered. Red brick in stretcher bond, with 3-span slate
roof. Rectangular plan at right-angles to street. Two-storey
3-bay front range with two 1st-floor windows, asymmetrical;
wide round-headed central doorway, with renewed wooden
pilasters and panelled door, plain semi-circular fanlight;
small 16-pane sashed window above doorway and one 12-pane sash
on each floor to left (that at ground floor segmental-headed),
no windows in front wall to right (which is now front end of
workshop portion to rear). Chimney at left gable. Right-hand
return side, formed by 3 gabled ends, has wooden canted bay
window to the first (now damaged), a former window above this
now with a board door, various other windows including a
16-pane sash (damaged) and the others now mostly boarded, and
inserted garage doorway. Rear left corner attached to No.132
(q.v.). Interior of house altered, communication between
entrance hall and former front right room now blocked.
