Shops and dwellings. Early C18 (Nos.2 and 3 refronted C20).
Brick; Welsh slate roof, half-hipped to right; C17 and later
brick stacks to rear. 3-storeys, attic and cellar; 10-window
range: to No.1, 3 late C19, 2/2 sashes; to Nos.2 and 3, early
C19, 6/6 sashes; storey band; similar sashes over; seam
between Nos.1 and 2 has mutilated blocked openings; No.1
raised C19, with brick modillion eaves. No.1 has late C19
shopfront with C20 glazed door between windows with moulded
glazing shafts; canted return to King Street, with further
recessed shop windows. C20 shopfronts to Nos.2 and 3, with
separate entrances to upper floors. Rear of No.2: early C19
wing with box framing in right gable; brick stack. Similar
wing to No.3, has 3/6 sash to 2nd floor. Rendered, reduced
stack to rear of main range, with further C19 leantos.
INTERIOR: No.1 has exposed chamfered ceiling beams to ground,
1st and 2nd floors; rubble and C17 brickwork to rear wall; C17
dogleg staircase with turned balusters, and C19 addition to
attic; queen strut truss and C19 raising of front roof pitch.
Nos.2 and 3: C17 timber-framing with C18 alterations; C19
doors, fireplaces and dogleg staircase with stick balusters;
inscription on glass of front window, 1841.
