SHORWELL

House. Late C17. Built of Isle of Wight stone rubble.
Half-hipped thatched roof with brick chimneystack. 1 storey
and attics in gable end: 2 windows. 2 stone mullioned
casements with leaded lights. Modern stone thatched and glazed
weatherporch. Plinth. Interior has spine beam with 3 inch
chamfer and lambs tongue stop. Open fireplace with bread oven.
Some reused oak panelling from the Cunard linar S.S.
Mauretania.
