Engine house and attached chimney. Circa 1870. Roughly coursed slate stone
with red brick dressings; slate roof. Largely in ivy at time of resurvey
(November 1987). Rectangular plan with circular chimney attached to north-east
corner. 3 storeys. North gable end has round-headed opening on each floor
and south gable end has round-headed opening on ground floor. Mainly round-
headed openings to east side; rectangular openings to west side. Chimney
has red brick top with moulded capping; stoke-hole to bottom.
Interior: Retains stone block for engine. Deep open shaft immediately to
south. Broadgate Mine, on the site of an C18 mine, was primarily concerned
with copper extraction and was in use from 1870 to 1878.
