16/7 The Four Lanterns

House. C17 or earlier. Long, one and a half storey thatched and
weatherboarded house facing W. Signs of former subdivision.
Timber frame, plastered on S gable. Central chimney plan with
stair next to stack. Steep thatched roof, hipped at N end over
plastered extension, but gabled at S. N half has red tiles on
lower part of front slope with 2 gabled tiled dormers with 2-
light wooden casements. S half fully thatched, with swept 2-
light dormer at eaves. Windows renewed, with small 2-light and 3-
light wooden casements. Open gabled porch. Small single storey,
plastered and tiled, lean-to extension on S end. Part of
group on E side of road.
