1/1 Farmhouse at Sharpes Farm

GV II

House. Mid C17, rear wing c 1948 and additional square rear
block on N 1952. 2 storeys, plastered with red tile roofs.
Front block facing S, timberframed, plastered with panelled
pargetting using arched motif. Half-hipped old red tile roof. 3
window front, central door replaced by window. 3-light casement
windows renewed. Large red brick central chimney has three
conjoined diagonal shafts above a rectangular base and is set on
the long axis of the house. Lobby entry 2-unit house with
parlour on E. Rectangular area of worn brick paving to N of
stack probably marks site of former rear stair-turret. Both
Ground floor rooms and chamber over parlour heated originally.
Wide fireplace with stop chamfered lintel to parlour. Rear wall
plate has face-halved bladed scarf by chimney. 1st floor has old
iron hinges on plank doors.
