1847-52 by Benjamin Ferrey. Simplified Tudor style collegiate building. Rock faced
ironstone with sandstone dressings; tiled roof. Half-H shaped in plan and built
around a quadrangle. To the road 2 storeys plus attic; 5 bays, the centre one with
an oriel window above the entrance arch, the outer ones gabled. Ground floor with
couplets or triplets of windows with cusped arched lights and buttresses. First floor
mostly with single cusped arched lights but the outer bays with a pair also. In the
attic, gabled stone dormer windows. Left and right, later additions, that to the
right in similar style, that on the left linking up with the chapel, now disused.
It is in a round arched style, by J L Ball, 1912-13.
