Peter's Churchyard

GV II

Hearse House: dated 1852. English garden wall bond orange brick.
Kerridge stone-slate roof and stone ridge. Rectangular plan.
1-storey, 2-bay east front. Left end bay has a stone plaque reading
"THE GROUND WITHIN THIS WALL WAS ADDED TO THE CHURCHYARD AND
CONSECRATED A.D. MDCCCLVI. REV.H.PEARSON LLB VICAR" and with the names
of the churchwardens and committee.
The right bay has a 2-centred brick arch containing a heavy door
divided into vertical panels. Right end has a further plaque reading
"Robert Wright, William Bullock, William Barker, George Godwin. Church
Wardens 1852".
This must have replaced the building mentioned in the lychgate
inscription. = =
