about 20 yards south of
- Oldhay Farmhouse

GV II

Barn, cow shed, stable and attached cart shed. Probably C18, extended in
C19. Rubble, timber-framed, corrugated iron roof. L-plan with extended
barn forming one wing, cart shed the other hinging on stable. One storey
and attic; 7:3 bays; opposed entrance doors in corrugated iron to third
bay from right, 2 ledged doors to cow house left of centre, ledged door
to stables on left hand side. Cart shed divided into 3 bays by 2 rubble
pillars to entrance front; behind these are 2 more rubble piers demarcating
catslide roof area; end wall is rubble. Interior: original 3 bay threshing
barn with floor in centre bay, has V-struts and tension braces; right hand
bay of smaller scantling, apparently C19, and weatherboarded. Cow shed
area of 2 bays has similar trusses to barn part but on rubble walls rather
than framing 3 panels high. Corner stable area is not bonded with cow house
but was probably added soon after. Forms large agricultural group with hearby
Oldhay Farmhouse and cow shelter (qv) which together enclose 2 sides of
farmyard.
