2 shops and an office. Late C16 timber-framed building refronted in early to mid
C19 and refenestrated and altered internally in C20. Clad in stucco with incised
lines to imitate masonry. Old tiled roof with parapet and wooden cornice. 3
storeys 2 windows. C20 casements to 2nd floor and mullioned and transomed case-
ments to 1st floor. Ground floor has C20 shop fronts. Rear elevation has
original gable to right obscured by a later, probably C19, addition with gable.
Interior has late C16 roof, one side mainly retaining original rafters the other
side mainly renewed in soft wood. 2 chamfered tie beams with lambs tongue steps.
Otherwise the interior has been modernized with false ceilings and some broad
beams which may contain earlier boxed in beams. the top of the wall plate is vis-
ible in the roof and the rest of the wall frame is probably embedded in the wall.
