4/60 Barn approx. 10 metres
- west of No. 89 (Rycliff
Farnhouse).
GV II

Barn. Late C17 or early C18; altered. Coursed squared sandstone with some
rubble patching, stone slate roof. Rectangular 5-bay plan on east-west axis.
Opposed segmental-headed wagon doorways in centre of south front and rear,
both with quoined jambs and splayed voussoirs with pendent keystones, that in
the front partly and that at the rear wholly blocked; front has square-headed
doorway to 1st bay, inserted wagon entrance to 2nd (with steel lintel),
square pitching hole over central archway, another to the 5th bay, and a loft
doorway to the right of this, with external steps (and a ground-floor doorway
beneath the deck). Gable copings with moulded kneelers; 2 inserted skylights
in the roof. Rear has doorway to 5th bay, square pitching hole above and to
the right; small brick chimney on north east corner of roof. (Numerous
timber props to rear wall, following subsidence damage).
