ST 40 SW STOKE ABBOTT

4/263 Brimley Mill

Mill House and Water-Mill. Early C19. Reset datestone. L.C. 1674.
Rubble-stone walls. Slate roof. Brick stacks at: left hand gable,
centre ridge, right hand gable. Stone gable-coping at right hand.
3 storeys. 5 windows, 5 are 3-light casements with lead lights.
Wooden lintels and cills. One fixed window with glazing-bars replaces
a door in that position. Lower, one storey, one bay range at right
hand with 3-light casements. Slate roof with one brick stack at
right hand. Doors: 2 approximately at centre, one with 2-lights, Cl9;
one with 6 lights, C20. Blue lias steps moved left, to approach door
beside water-wheel. Cast-iron wheel, built 1852 (Beaminster).
Machinery mainly intact, and driving 2 mill-stones.
