SY 39 NE WOOTTON FITZPAINE SCHOOL LANE

2/213 Village Hall

G.V. II

Village hall. Dated 1906 by F W Troup. Brick walls in Flemish bond with some
rendering, tile-hanging and weatherboarded north gable. Plain tile roof.
Composite lozengy brick stacks with moulded cornices. Roughly T-plan.
Entrance at north gable end. Large plank double doors with strap hinges. Lead
canopy over carried on wooden braces. Pentice tiled roof going into vertical
tile hanging. Projecting buttresses framing the centre with gabled heads,
recessed lozengy tile pattern under a 6-sided tiled head. Windows throughout
of wooden casement type. Rear premises, fully weatherboarded with tile roofs,
2 lead tablets at entrance, one with "To the memory of Alfred Capper Pass this
hall is erected by his wife and son in the year 1906". "N Pevsner, Dorset", p 498.
