Pair of cottages, originally one house. Early C17, altered in late C18. Coursed
rubble stone walls, stone slate roofs, stone end stacks and one near centre.
Original house of 3-room and cross-passage plane. One storey and attic. No. 4
has ledged door with small glass panel. No. 6 has ledged door under lead-covered
pentice hood on wood brackets. Ground floor (of whole block) has 3 casements with
horizontal glazing bars. Attic has 3 hipped dormers, 2 with casements with glazing
bars, one with C20 metal casement. Rear wing in matching construction. Lean-to
at-right end, also in matching construction. Internally, some exposed ceiling beams.
Other early features probably survive under later plaster. A National Trust Property.
