Dovecote at Nos. 38 and 40 (formerly listed with No. 42)

Dovecote. Dated 1716. Red brick with moulded brick eaves and Swithland
slate roof. Brick coped shouldered gables facing. High single storey. Door
on front and 2-light window in gable. Double doors to rear with similar 2-light
in gable and here also date in black bricks. There is a slightly recessed stucco
band all round below the eaves. Inside there is a double purlin roof, and rows
of nesting boxes on all four sides.
