House. Dated 1790 by owner, altered and extended late C20. Stucco with limestone dressings, ashlar rear, with ashlar ridge stacks and hipped slate roof Double-depth plan. Late Georgian style. 2 storeys and cellar; 2:1:2 window range. Double-fronted with quoins, plain window surrounds and moulded stone gutter brackets flanking the windows and paired at the corners. A tall recessed round archway contains a matching doorway, with metal batswing fanlight and a 6-panel door with reeded bottom panels and raised upper panels with corner checks, and 6-pane lights each side. Late C20 homed 8/8-pane sashes, extending to the ground on the ground floor. The rear has coped gables either side of a projecting central section with a first-floor canted bay supported on late C20 steel columns, and with a late C20 flat roof. Good stacks each with 4 octagonal shafts and moulded tops. Right-hand return has a curved single-storey wall with ramped parapet attached to the side, with a late C20 extension behind. INTERIOR: A wide entrance stair hall divided by a 3-centre moulded arch, with C19 tiles, to a good open well stair with column newels, stick balusters, mahogany veneered ramped rail and curtail with a marquetry star to the newel; a rear panelled screen has a half-glazed door. Front downstairs rooms contain good original fireplaces, marble in the right-hand room with fluted surround and swagged urns to the corners and central panel, and a similar wooden one to the left with a late C19 steel surround and basket. Original reeded cornices, 6-panel doors and panelled shutters. Stone-lined cellar beneath the front rooms. An advanced design with good interior features on a prominent site, with group value with nearby listed houses.
