Churchyard wall
with gates, piers
and War Memorial
GV II

Wall, gate piers, gates and War Memorial. Mid C19 and early C20. Rubble and
ashlar sandstone; wrought iron. Coursed rubble wall with tooled, chamfered
coping. On south side chamfered square gate piers of dressed stone with plinth,
broach stops, torus band and stepped pyramidal cap with ball finial. Gates
have pointed standards, dog bars and roundels in top rail. Iron alms box set
into wall to left of gates. Further left World War I memorial cross,of ashlar
on high plinth, and stepped base, inserted in stepped opening in the wall.
A similar opening, further left again, displays a fossil tree. Wall runs round
3 sides of churchyard.
