Row of 4 cottages. C18 with later alterations. Roughcast random rubble. Varied
roof lines. All roofs except that of Church Hall cottage are renewed. Cottages
present a continuous flat facade to street and all are single-storeyed though of
differing heights.

No. 1 has three 4-pane sashes with stone sills and lintels. C20 addition to left
not of special interest.

Church Hall cottage is slightly taller and has a 4-pane sash and a boarded door.
To the right, a C19 shop front with boarded door and a low 8-pane horizontal
window in an oak surround. Old steeply-pitched pantiled roof. C20 brick church
hall attached to rear not of special interest.

No. 2 has a 12-pane horizontal sliding sash and a 12-pane vertical sash, both with
stone sills and lintels. C19 half dormer above.

No. 2A has a C20 glazed door under a broad lintel and, immediately below the eaves,
a 4-pane sash with stone sill and lintel.

These cottages occupy a prominent position on the northern approach to Hawthorn
village and are included for group value.
