Barn, possibly tithe barn. C14/C15. Limestone rubble; corrugated-iron roof.
10-bay plan. Walls have a deeply-projecting plinth with weathered offset. Front
has full-height entrances in bays 3 and 6, and there are 2 windows and a small
doorway to right, probably inserted; right end wall has been rebuilt and the
roof lowered over the end bay. Rear has lower opposed doors. Interior: trusses
have heavy tie beams with arched braces springing from short posts, each carved
with broach stops where it rests on a stone corbel; principal rafters with
collars and raking struts are probably C17, and carry through purlins. 5 trusses
are complete with both arched braces, one truss has one only, 2 have lost both
braces and one tiebeam is probably C17.
