Substantial house. Late C18, probably for John Ashby. Brick in Flemish bond with
limestone-ashlar dressings; old plain-tile roofs with brick end stacks. L-plan.
3 storeys. Symmetrical 3-window front has a central doorway with a
triangular-pedimented and pilastered stone doorcase, a 6-panel door with
ornamental overlight and panelled reveals, and has moulded stone architraves to
all windows; ground and first-floor windows have 12-pane sashes and second-floor
windows have 6-pane sashes. Doorway is partly concealed by a glazed canopy with
C19 cast-iron columns. Ashlar plinth and brick parapet continue around sides,
returning on left to the rear wing. Left side has projecting stacks flanking
pairs of sashes with rubbed and gauged flat arches; rear has similar windows.
Interior not inspected. Noted as existing in 1797.
