GV II

Gas street lamps. Installed 1902 to 1910. Made by the Ringwood and Pokesdown Foundries,
the lanterns supplied by Suggs. Cast-iron and with wrought-iron lanterns. Various designs, with
reeded or plain shafts and pedestals, most of which have wavey friezes; ladder bars and lanterns
on wrought-iron scroll supports and finials on top. They have individual governor boxes. Still
in use as gas lamps. The lamps were installed for the parish by the electricity company
converting gas lamps in Bournemouth to electricity. Information supplied by Bournemouth
Borough Council.
