The earlier portion at the north end is C17, the south portion was added in the
early Cl9. Facade white roughcast but north part probably of cob. Double span
roof, north part tiled, south part slate, hipped and wide projecting eaves. C17
chimney. 2 storeys and 1 attic dormer. 5 windows including 2 blanks. Sashes with
glazing bars. Basement to south end old casements with diamond shaped lead quarrels
set in arched lights. Trellised wooden porch with tent shaped canopy above. Doorway
has semi-circular fanlight. Francis Lyte, author of 'Abide with me' was curate
of Lymington for some years when it formed a auraoy within the Parish of Boldre
and presumably lived in this house.
