Mid-late C19 tall building of 2 storeys and attic, 3 bays, the right bay slightly
set back. High pitched slated roof with 3 gables in front. Stock brick with stone
dressings. Massive stone foundation of old railway sleepers. Shouldered lintels
to windows under 4-centred relieving arches. Central entrance, under pointed arch,
has hoodmould with carved stops. Above it an angel corbel, with the arms of the
Bishop of New Zealand, supports triangular oriel with pent stone roof.

St Mary's Church, its rail1ngs and the Rectory form a group.
